Strategy
The Auchenai Soulpriest`s ability turns healing cards like Circle of Healing into strong board-clearing spells. For example, playing the Soulpriest on turn 4 with Circle of Healing deals 4 damage to the whole board, which can easily neutralize a board filled with low-cost aggressive minions. If there are any friendly minions on the board, the downside of also damaging your own minions can be avoided by trading them out first. The Soulpriest turns the Priest`s hero power Lesser Heal into a stronger version of the Mage`s Fireblast for the same mana cost. When facing Paladins or Druids, healing spells such as Holy Light and Healing Touch also become very efficient damage spells, if they have been copied into the Priest`s hand with Thoughtsteal or Mind Vision.
On the other hand, Holy Fire and Holy Nova don`t work well with this card since they will damage friendly characters.

Strategy
Auchenai Soulpriest is a very interesting card strategically with the ability to turn the tables in a tough match by changing the priest`s many healing abilities into strong damaging spells.
A common use of this card is in combination with Circle of Healing Circle of Healing Set: Classic Type: Spell Class: Priest Rarity: Common Cost: 0 Abilities: Restore Health Tags: Area of effect Restore 4 Health to ALL minions. It isn t really a circle.See this card on Hearthpwn data to deal 4 damage to all minions, acting as a very effective board wipe. This effectively provides the effect of a Flamestrike for just 4 mana, but will damage the priest`s minions too, reducing the Soulpriest to 1 Health. Unless Silenced, the priest will also be unable to heal the Soulpriest due to their healing effects now dealing damage (although they can still use effects like Power Word: Shield), which means she will often be destroyed next turn. The combo acts to clear away enemies, with the casting priest usually having no other minions on the board at the time, and can be very useful for allowing priests to survive into the late game against more aggressive decks.
Flash Heal is a very effective card in combination with Auchenai Soulpriest, offering versatility as well as a very useful source of burst damage. The combination is often used in one turn kill combos, typically included Mind Blast, Holy Smite and ideally Prophet Velen.
The Auchenai Soulpriest can also trade efficiently if played on turn 6 or later, where it can allow the priest to immediately kill a 2 health minion using Lesser Heal.
Very much like a mage, a priest with Auchenai Soulpriest can use his own Hero Power to damage an Acolyte of Pain and draw cards from it, though unlike a mage he will not normally be able to do so more than 2 times.
Be careful with Auchenai Soulpriest and automatic healing effects such as Lightwell. In this case, at the start of the turn the Lightwell will target a damaged friendly character and deal 3 damage to them. It is also worth mentioning that Holy Nova Holy Nova Set: Basic Type: Spell Class: Priest Cost: 5 Abilities: Deal damage, Restore Health Tags: Area of effect Deal 2 damage to all enemies. Restore 2 Health to all friendly characters. If the Holy Light will damage your minions instead of healing them while an Auchenai Soulpriest is active on your side. At long last, it is highly inadvisable to ever control Mistress of Pain Mistress of Pain Set: Goblins vs Gnomes Type: Minion Subtype: Demon Class: Warlock Rarity: Rare Cost: 2 Attack: 1 Health: 4 Abilities: Restore Health Tags: Damage-related, Triggered effect Damage dealt by this minion also heals or Wickerflame Burnbristle Wickerflame Burnbristle Set: Mean Streets of Gadgetzan Type: Minion Class: Paladin Rarity: Legendary Cost: 3 Attack: 2 Health: 2 Abilities: Divine Shield, Restore Health, Taunt Tags: Damage-related, Triggered effect Taunt. Divine Shield. Damage dealt by at the same time as Auchenai Soulpriest, since their triggered effect will create a loop that will destroy the controlling hero.
One less obvious synergy is with Ancestral Healing, which can generally be used to destroy any given minion for 0 mana. Be that as it may, a Divine Shield will allow the minion to survive the attack and benefit from the Taunt effect.
Priests should always be careful when playing Auchenai Soulpriest in a situation where they may need to heal next turn - if the opponent Freezes the Soulpriest, or simply does not provide a target for it to trade into, the priest will generally be unable to remove the effect, preventing them from using healing to restore their Health. While the damage-dealing version of Lesser Heal is generally far more versatile than the healing version, being unable to heal your minions or your hero can result in defeat. This can also inhibit the use of cards like Holy Nova, due to not wanting to destroy your own board.
Auchenai Soulpriest`s effect is also found on Embrace the Shadow, albeit in purer and more temporary form. The latter card excels for combos, where its lower cost can allow more spells to be played that turn. While more expensive, Auchenai Soulpriest has the advantage of lasting longer, and also providing a useful minion.

More precisely, the infinite loop will stop once the hero has been in negative Health following three consecutive triggers or after 61 triggers, whichever happens first.
- Effects such as Reno Jackson and Tree of Life which heal characters to full Health, when combined with Auchenai Soulpriest will instead deal damage to affected characters equal to their maximum Health, usually killing them (however a character can still survive, for example due to Immune, Divine Shield, Commanding Shout, Animated Armor or if it has enough Armor).
